Bayshore Manor is a multipurpose Assisted Living Facility, operated by Monroe County and licensed by Florida's Agency For Health Care Administration. Primarily designed as a residential facility for the elderly residents of Monroe County, Bayshore Manor offers daily activities, 24 hour staffing by Florida Certified Nursing Assistants, nutritious hot meals and transportation.

They also operate an adult daytime respite program for families whose elderly folks require non-medical supervision during the day. This program is available on a daily basis at a nominal fee, which includes a hot lunch and supervised activities.

Bayshore also provides a short term (up to 30 days) residential service for families requiring more prolonged relief from continuous care giving.

Short Term Residential

Services are available for persons needing a temporary residential setting. These services are designed to give caregivers relief (respite).

Short term residential services can be provided for a time period not to exceed thirty (30) days. Persons staying short-term receive the same services as the long term residents. Please call for information on pricing plans.

Elder Respite Services

Services are offered during daytime hours. These services are designed to give relief to primary caregiver. Please call for information on pricing plans.

During the daytime stay, guests engage in regular activities along with other daytime guests and the residents of Bayshore Manor.

Transportation can be arranged through transportation services.

Residential Services

Bayshore Manor is licensed by the State of Florida for sixteen (16) beds for assisted living. These residential services are structured for the elder who is unable to live independently but does not require twenty-four hour nursing care. Bayshore Manor offers many services:

• Three meals plus a bedtime snack daily. The meal plan is developed by a Florida Registered Dietitian to supply a complete, well-balanced diet for seniors. In addition, many special occasion dinners are planned through local restaurants, clubs & organizations.
• Laundry service is provided for all resident clothing and linens.
• Assistance with medications - All medications are stored in a locked cart. Medications for each resident are prepared, labeled and packaged by a pharmacist. Residents are assisted and reminded to take their medications when due.
• Assistance with medical appointments - The family is always encouraged to accompany residents to appointments, however, if this is not possible, staff will assist the resident with securing transportation and/or accompany the resident as the situation merits.
• Assistance with personal care - Each resident is assisted with personal care according to need. All personal care items, such as toothpaste, toothbrush, body soap and lotion and shampoo are provided. There are six showers, two of which are handicapped accessible and equipped with shower chairs.

• A beautiful shaded picnic area

A formal activities program is conducted. Activities include walks, sitterize, games, arts, crafts, structured conversation and sharing times. The interests and abilities of each person are taken into account. In addition we have:

• Regular visits by clubs, organizations and individuals for planned activities
• Sing-a-longs
• Outings for meals, cultural and community events and other activities
• Regular celebrations and parties observing holidays or special events and birthdays

Staff

Attendants are on-duty twenty -four hours per day. Required certifications for each attendant include:

• Florida Nurse Aide
• Florida Food Manager
• American Red Cross CPR and 1st Aide
• Defensive Driving
• Medication Supervision

Each attendant also receives additional training in HIV infection, principles of infection control, personal care, abuse and neglect and reporting of serious incidents.

Staff are subject to rigorous background checking by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The administrator of Bayshore is a healthcare professional with additional education and experience in elder care issues and assisted living rules and regulations.
